Our Story (so far)

In 2020, the future of work changed, forever. We were all quickly fed up of hearing “unprecedented” and “lockdown”, but then came a new appreciation of flexible, remote working. Teams had to work from home and – guess what – businesses not only survived but teams thrived. The traditional 9-5 office day has changed and SWURF is on a mission to connect remote work forces with beautiful, flexible workspaces.

Meet our Founder and CEO, Nikki. Four years ago Nikki launched SWURF with a simple but powerful belief: work doesn’t have to mean being stuck in one place. She imagined a future where people could find connection, inspiration, and productivity in spaces that suited their rhythm of life, not the other way around. But, this wasn’t just about flexibility for individuals. It was also about supporting the hospitality sector, breathing new life into cafes, hotels, and venues by connecting them with a new generation of workers. SWURF set out to create a win-win: empowering people to work differently while helping local businesses thrive.

We’re a small team with heaps of tech and hospitality experience. We’ve brought together our collective experience to provide a venue-sourcing app for remote workers, looking for the perfect space to catch-up with teammates, clients or friends over a quick coffee, or escape the chaos of the kitchen. Our starting place was our home city of Edinburgh but SWURF is now UK-wide. We’ve got a great network of hospitality contacts across the nation and we’re recruiting some of the most amazing venues for Swurfers to browse, book and use as workspaces when they want and how they want. It’s our mission to allow everyone to “work freely”. 

You don’t need an office to do your best work. When it comes down to it, you know how you work best. So you should have the fexibility to work in the place that’s right for you. Being able to work remotely yet still connect with others. Creating the space that supports your lifestyle and well-being.

Let’s face it, life’s tough enough so let’s try and keep work simple. SWURF connects people who want to work remotely with spaces that welcome them to do just that. Allowing people to work, to connect or to collaborate. No booking needed.
